Montpelier Pride

Montpelier Pride is a festival on the Vermont Statehouse lawn preceded by a sidewalk parade through downtown and a flag raising at City Hall. It features tables from statewide nonprofits, state agencies, schools, churches, and mutual aid groups, with free food and drinks.

The Montpelier Pride Festival is free and open to the public, with donations optional. In 2026 it ran on a Friday afternoon, with performances first, then music and dancing, and booths, tables and tents offering information, resources and activities for all ages. Tablers have included the Vermont chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and a free ear acupuncture clinic.

Pride in Montpelier is a citywide effort. In the week before the festival and throughout June, local businesses and nonprofits host their own events. Past years have included a kick-off drag show at Charlie O's, a queer film festival at the Savoy and a Pride concert by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library and local bookstores often set up Pride displays.

The festival is funded by tabling fees from local nonprofits and organizations and by donations from churches, businesses and individuals. In 2026 its fiscal sponsor was VT Rises, which also worked with organizers on funding and community connections.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held May 29, 2026. It usually falls late May, a Friday afternoon.
