Pride Aroostook Festival

The Pride Aroostook Festival is northern Maine's largest Pride event, held at Riverside Park in Presque Isle. It includes music, a mini parade from the park to Main Street, vendors, food, and a group poetry activity. Pride Aroostook became a nonprofit in 2023.

Pride Aroostook's roots go back several years, to a time when Pride in the county was run with the Aroostook Boys and Girls Club. It was later sponsored by the Aroostook County Action Program before organizers formed their own nonprofit in 2023. Some members grew up in Aroostook County and others settled there later, and the group describes itself as a community of rural and small-town LGBTQ+ people and allies.

Along with the June celebration, Pride Aroostook holds events through the year, including family-friendly game nights and movie nights, with the goal of building connections and bringing people together. Its June Pride merchandise has been printed by Little Chair Printing, an LGBT-friendly company in Portland, and it points people to local LGBT-friendly services such as Maine Family Planning. Board meeting schedules are posted publicly.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 13, 2026. It usually falls second Saturday of June.
