RuCo Pride

RuCo Pride is a Rutherford County nonprofit that creates affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ people and hosts monthly gatherings along with an annual Pride celebration. The 2026 festival was held on Saturday, June 13 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the historic Oaklands Mansion in Murfreesboro.

RuCo Pride was founded by Norman, a lifelong Rutherford County resident who performs as Veronica Paige-Velour and appeared on the fourth season of HBO's We're Here. He had worked with Boro Pride but saw the need for a Pride organization serving all of Rutherford County, and he set out to bring people together through regular gatherings such as an annual Friendsgiving, a holiday party and the Pride celebration.

The nonprofit's work includes mutual aid, advocacy and monthly events meant to create safe spaces for everyone. Crew members are on hand at every event, and anyone who feels unsafe is asked to tell one so the issue can be addressed.

Its board is made up of local residents, including the owner of a Rutherford County event company, the director of the Rutherford County Voices of Pride choir, who handles music, lighting and entertainers for events, and the director of a Murfreesboro Boys and Girls Club.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 13, 2026. It usually falls june.
