Seward Pride

Seward Pride, organized by the Seward Pride Alliance, opens with a kickoff weekend that includes a parade, and continues with barbecues, karaoke, a Pride cruise, hikes, and drag events through June.

The Seward Pride Alliance is a volunteer-led group based between Resurrection Bay and Mount Marathon. Its mission is to provide inclusive resources, education and outreach for LGBTQ+ residents and allies, and it envisions a Seward where LGBTQIA+ people can live safely and openly. An 11-seat board of local residents leads the work, and the group holds open community meetings at the Seward Community Library and Museum.

The Pride schedule is built to fit different budgets and energy levels. Past events have included a panel of local LGBTQIA voices talking about small-town queer life, and a potluck with an educational question-and-answer session where guests bring soup, salad or dessert to share.

Outside of June, the alliance hosts a winter drag show fundraiser each December at Seward Alehouse, historically hosted by Golden Delicious of Anchorage. It also shows up at community events and offers trainings to help make Seward more inclusive. Volunteers help with board work, bake sales, raffles and Pride events, and local businesses can offer space.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Seward Pride has included parade, drag bingo, hikes and barbecue.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 5-7, 2026. It usually falls first weekend of June, with events through June.
