Skagway Pride

Skagway Pride holds an annual Pride celebration at the Dedman Stage at Seven Pastures, with drag, music, and food. The 2026 theme was Justice For All.

The Skagway Pride Committee is a volunteer nonprofit made up of local residents, and it gathers on Shg̱agwei, Lingít Aaní, to organize the town's summer celebration. The event is held on the first Saturday in June.

The first celebration, on June 1, 2019, was a modest grassroots gathering led by Hailee Sue, with live music, live art and a decorated bike parade. In 2021, after the pandemic had hit Skagway's economy hard, Pride became part of the municipality's Save Our Skagway effort to draw independent travelers. That year the committee formed, and with sponsorship from Skagway Brewing Company and Bites on Broadway it brought Gigi Monroe and Juneau Drag to town for a two-day celebration of community events and a show of local music and drag.

Local artist Beau Dennis has designed the Pride logo each year. His 2022 design included purple hands recalling the 1969 Friday of the Purple Hand protest at the San Francisco Examiner, and a later design drew on figures found on bentwood boxes. Themes have included Still Here, Still Queer in 2023 and We Pride At Dawn in 2024.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls early June.
