Grosse Pointe Pride

Grosse Pointe Pride is a morning march and celebration hosted by WEGP. Participants gather near the Grosse Pointe Central Library and march about a mile down Kercheval Avenue to Maire Elementary for speakers, children's activities, and family-friendly drag performances. Young people lead the march, and the 2026 event was the 10th annual.

WEGP moved Grosse Pointe Pride to a new location in 2026. Marchers gathered at 10 a.m. in the Richard Elementary parking lot across from the Grosse Pointe Central Library, then walked about a mile down Kercheval Avenue, turning right on Saint Clair Street and left on Waterloo Street, to Maire Elementary at the corner of Cadieux and Waterloo.

Once there, the morning continued with an interactive story time and games for young children and families at the stage, followed by family-friendly drag performances by Crystal Harding and her crew. The program also included guest speakers and ways to get involved in activism. Organizers invite people to bring friends, neighbors, signs and leashed, friendly dogs. The 2026 schedule had the march running from 10:30 to 11:15, story time starting at 11 and the drag performances from 11:30 to 12:30.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Grosse Pointe Pride has included march, family-friendly drag, youth events and speakers.

Grosse Pointe Pride was first held in 2017.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 20, 2026. It usually falls third Saturday of June (morning).
