Pride UP Festival (Ironwood)

Pride UP is a weekend-long June Pride festival in downtown Ironwood in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula. It is run by Ironwood Area Pride, a volunteer group, and was first held in 2020.

Pride UP grew out of a shared wish to honor the community's humanity during a year marked by a global pandemic and national protests for racial justice. Ironwood Area Pride, a loosely organized group of local individuals and organizations, has since formed around the festival.

The group's goal is to help the Ironwood area become more welcoming and nourishing for queer people and families by building relationships and educating themselves and others about the needs of the queer community. The festival is tied to downtown Ironwood's First Friday weekends, and organizers note that Ironwood sits within the treaty-ceded territories of Ojibwe tribes. Current area events are listed through FeLiveLife.org. The weekend-long June festival is the group's main way to celebrate and connect, alongside its relationship building and education work.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
