About Cook County Pride
Cook County Pride holds a Pride weekend in downtown Grand Marais on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The 2026 Saturday program at Harbor Park, themed Pride is Protest, included free yoga, a family-friendly drag story performance, community singing and dancing, a Pride rally and march and a free community dinner. A church service followed on Sunday.
Cook County Pride works to foster a safe, healthy and empowered queer community for both residents of and visitors to Cook County on Minnesota's North Shore. Its large annual events are meant to celebrate queer presence, acknowledge a history of marginalization and commit to a better future.
Outside of Pride weekend, the group organizes social events through the year so queer people and allies can have a consistent social life together, and it offers educational outreach on queer history and on what allyship means. Members attend city and county meetings and other public forums to advocate for the local queer community, and they work with residents, organizations and businesses that want to show visible support for queer identities.
