Mahwah-Ramsey Pride Celebration

The Mahwah Pride Coalition hosts an annual Pride celebration with live music, speakers and community tables. In 2026 it became a joint Mahwah and Ramsey celebration held at Ramapo College.

The Mahwah Pride Coalition is a nonprofit group of Mahwah residents, both LGBTQ+ community members and allies, working with the Bergen County LGBTQ+ Alliance. Its goals are to celebrate LGBTQ+ contributions, promote inclusion, educate the wider community, help local youth feel at home in their hometown and hold a Pride event that invites broad participation.

The 2026 celebration, themed Rainbows Connect Us, was the first held jointly with Ramsey and took place indoors in the air-conditioned Bill Bradley Center at Ramapo College, with Pride flag signs guiding guests from the main entrance. A family area offers games, crafts, books and readings centered on LGBTQ+ education and acceptance. The coalition's first three celebrations each included an art show.

Sales of lawn signs and T-shirts help fund the celebration and a scholarship for Mahwah high school seniors who have worked to support the LGBTQ+ community. The coalition also runs a petition asking the township to fly the Pride flag on public buildings in June, and its site offers local resource lists and book recommendations for every age group.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 26, 2026. It usually falls late June.
