Navajo Nation Pride

Navajo Nation Pride describes itself as the largest LGBTQ+ Indigenous celebration in Indian Country, centered in Window Rock on the Navajo Nation. It includes a Pride parade and March for Equality from the Navajo Nation Museum to Veterans Memorial Park. The 2026 celebration honored the traditional role of the Nádleehí in Diné culture.

Navajo Nation Pride works to bring LGBTQ+ inclusive events to both rural and urban communities across the Navajo Nation. Its mission centers on reintroducing traditional Diné knowledge and teachings that once kept LGBTQIA+ relatives safe and respected, and on addressing the social, economic and educational disparities that affect them. The organization says it will hold leaders accountable and protect community members from hate.

Its message frames Pride as reclaiming a place that predates boarding schools, Stonewall and the fight for marriage equality on the Navajo Nation, noting that sovereign tribal nations recognized LGBTQ+ people long ago. The organization is run by staff and volunteers.

Beyond the celebration in Window Rock, the group runs a virtual art gallery featuring Indigenous LGBTQ+ artists from around the world and awards the Nááts'íílid Rainbow Youth Scholarship to student leaders. It also maintained a resource hub during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its news page notes that Indigenous human rights and LGBTQ+ leader Alray Nelson was named one of The Advocate's Champions of Pride in 2021.

Two-Spirit gatherings honor Indigenous LGBTQ+ people and their traditions, often as a powwow with dancing, drumming and ceremony.

Navajo Nation Pride has included parade and march for equality.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 27, 2026. It usually falls late June.
