Out in the Park Festival

Out in the Park is a Pride festival for Southern New Jersey's LGBTQA+ community held at Cooper River Park beside the Camden County Boathouse. 2026 was the 18th annual festival.

Out in the Park is produced by Jersey Gay Pride, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose roots go back to Family Lyfe, the organization DeAnn Cox founded in July 2007 and incorporated in January 2008. Cox had traveled to Pride celebrations around the country and wondered why her own hometowns had none. The group works to raise awareness of issues such as bullying, poverty and community development and to connect LGBT+ people in Southern and Eastern New Jersey and the Tri-State area with local and national resources.

The festival is held on the second Sunday of September. Sponsors and vendors take part, and the event is open to the public, offering on-the-spot services and support alongside the celebration. Partners and sponsors have included Bayada, Comcast, Wawa, Jefferson Hospital, CHOP, PSEG and the Cooper LGBTQA+ Health Center.

Year-round, Jersey Gay Pride supports a 24/7 crisis hotline, runs workshops and outreach for LGBT seniors and youth, and serves as a media sponsor for groups such as PFLAG Collingswood, the GLSEN Southern NJ chapter and Camden Pride. It also started the Jersey Gay Pride Rainbow Alliance, a membership network that lets Pride organizers across New Jersey share contacts, volunteers, entertainment and fundraising help.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held September 6, 2026. It usually falls early September (Labor Day weekend Sunday).
