Philly Black Pride

Philly Black Pride is a multiday celebration of Black LGBTQ+ community and culture in Philadelphia, with an official host hotel and a week of events.

Philadelphia Black Pride, also known as Philadelphia Black Gay Pride, was founded by the COLOURS Organization, which the group describes as the only LGBTQ health services provider in Philadelphia focused specifically on people of color. Established in August 1999, COLOURS first hosted the Philly Black Pride and Penn Relays festival, which quickly became a major cultural event.

The organization earned its own 501(c)(3) status in April 2004, which let it expand beyond the festival into year-round support and services for LGBTQ people of color in the Philadelphia area. It has long been a member of the Center for Black Equity, formerly the Federation of Black Prides, and in November 2013 it became one of that national organization's key programs.

Its signature festival is held during the University of Pennsylvania's annual Penn Relays Carnival. The group's mission is to transform the living and social environments of LGBTQ people of color through programs, policy, advocacy, partnerships and relationship building.

Black Pride events center Black LGBTQ+ people. Many run over a long weekend, with parties, panels, health and wellness programs and community gatherings.

Philly Black Pride has included parties, community events and workshops.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held April 20-26, 2026. It usually falls late April.
