Plymouth Pride

Plymouth Pride is a new fall Pride celebration in the west metro city of Plymouth, organized by residents and city council members. Organizers chose October 10, the day before National Coming Out Day, to avoid competing with June events.

Plymouth Pride came together through a small group that includes residents Wally Palm and Clay Smith and city council members Clark Gregor and Kimberly Nelson, who began serious planning in March 2026. The group decided early against a June date, both because of the time needed to organize and to avoid competing with the many other Pride events that month. To learn what their own event might look like, they attended Golden Valley Pride, then in its 10th year, and gathered contacts for performers and food vendors.

Plymouth has hosted smaller Pride-style gatherings in the past at the Northwest Greenway Pavilion in partnership with Maple Grove, but this is the city's first official Pride celebration. The city first proclaimed June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in 2025 and did so again in 2026. Organizers expect the first year to be modest and hope it will grow, describing the core purpose as bringing people together and building mutual support.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The next edition is October 10, 2026. It usually falls october, near National Coming Out Day.
