Pride Corpus Christi Parade and Block Party

Pride Corpus Christi holds an annual parade and block party on the bayfront each October. The parade steps off at 4:30 p.m. on Shoreline Boulevard by Water's Edge Park, and the block party runs from 5 to 10 p.m. on the park's Great Lawn with local vendors and food trucks. The 2026 event is the 10th annual parade and block party.

Pride Corpus Christi began as a response to the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando on June 12, 2016, which killed 49 people. The local group CCLGBT organized a candlelight vigil in Corpus Christi, and that gathering sparked the return of Pride to the city. The first Pride Corpus Christi was held downtown the next year, and there has been a parade every year since.

The parade is free and open to everyone, with no ticket required. Businesses, churches, student groups, nonprofits, sports teams, families and neighbors all march, and an entry can be as simple as a group with a banner. Each year the community chooses grand marshals who have done important work, often quietly; for 2026 they were Brittany Andrews and, as Emerging Leader Grand Marshal, Ellison Powers. Announcers call out each entry as it passes, and the block party begins where the route ends, with Noel Matthewz York as the 2026 MC.

Pride Corpus Christi also runs programs throughout the year. They include free mental health support groups and a weekly Saturday support group, the Our Community Lives archive of local LGBTQIA+ history with oral histories and podcasts, Safe Workplace trainings with a certificate, a Transgender Resource Initiative offering free gender-affirming supplies, and Vote with Pride, which shares candidate positions before elections. A community needs survey helps shape future programs.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
