South County Pride

South County Pride is a festival for Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and San Martin organized by the all-volunteer nonprofit Pride Social South County. The first event was held in Gilroy in August 2025.

Pride Social South County is a grassroots, all-volunteer nonprofit that provides education, peer support and advocacy for LGBTQ+ people in Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Martin and the unincorporated areas of South County. It works to create safe spaces, resources, equality and respect for LGBTQ+ residents across the region.

The group sees its Pride event as a way to bring nonprofits and health resources to LGBTQ+ communities that it describes as underserved in South County. Its stated goals are a South County free of discrimination and prejudice, respect for the many different communities within the LGBTQ+ population, and openness to each person and their differences. Alongside the festival, it advocates on behalf of local LGBTQ+ residents throughout the year. Its focus reaches lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents in every part of South County.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

South County Pride has included festival and resource fair.

South County Pride was first held in 2025.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held August 8, 2026. It usually falls early August.
