Stamford Pride Block Party

Stamford Pride is a nonprofit founded in 2019 that runs LGBTQIA+ programming year-round, including an October art exhibit. Its June Pride Block Party in downtown Stamford features live entertainment, bingo, food, and drinks.

Stamford Pride began in late 2019 when a small group of residents saw a need for ongoing LGBTQIA+ programming for all ages, not just a single yearly event. It is an independent 501(c)(3) serving Stamford and the surrounding Fairfield County, and most of its events are free.

Its year-round calendar includes book clubs, networking events, dinners for people 40 and over, author talks, happy hours and art exhibits. With the Ferguson Library and support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, it is building a living archive of local LGBTQIA+ stories through its History Project, and it holds a juried art exhibit alongside it.

The group also offers authentic space training for local businesses and school staff so LGBTQIA+ people feel welcome as customers, employees and neighbors. It partners with organizations such as Triangle Community Center, and donations help keep its programs free.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls early June.
