Boston Pride for the People

Boston Pride for the People is the volunteer-led group that organizes Boston's main Pride parade and festival. The parade starts on Boylston Street in Copley Square, runs through the South End, and ends on Boston Common, where an all-ages festival and a block party follow. The organization says its work centers QTBIPOC and trans communities and honors the legacy of Stonewall.

Boston Pride for the People is run by a volunteer board and working committee made up of community organizers and residents. Some came from the group Pride for the People, some helped organize Pop-Up Pride in 2022, and others are LGBTQ+ leaders from around the city. Its mission is to plan events through the year that reflect the diversity, culture and intersectionality of the LGBTQ+ community.

The organization lays out four aims. It seeks to build community and a culture of reaching respectfully across differences; to commemorate the Stonewall riots and the queer and trans activists of color who led the 20th-century movement; to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture while passing on history and a sense of pride to LGBTQ+ youth; and to educate about oppression and work to dismantle systems that harm LGBTQ+ people, especially those who face more than one form of marginalization. The annual celebration in June brings together a parade, a festival and related events.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls a Saturday in early to mid June; 2026 moved one week earlier than usual because of World Cup matches in Boston.
