Trans and NB Resistance Pride

Trans Resistance MA is a Boston nonprofit led by trans, nonbinary, and queer people of color that has organized an annual trans Pride march and festival since 2020. In 2026 it replaced the march and festival with a Trans and Nonbinary Pride series: a job and career resource fair at the Boston Public Library, a beach day at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, and a day of healing in Somerville.

Trans Resistance MA formed in June 2020, when a collective of Boston-area trans and queer activists who had spent years challenging the Boston Pride board as trans-exclusionary set out to build something of their own. The group describes itself as practitioner- and organizer-led, rooted in the leadership of Black, Indigenous and people of color who are trans, nonbinary and queer, and guided by racial justice, accessibility, restorative justice, rest and collaboration. Beyond its June programming, it holds a November vigil for Transgender Day of Remembrance and partners on Transgender Day of Visibility events in late March.

The 2026 series was built around economic empowerment and care. The career resource fair was designed around trans and nonbinary people of color. For the beach day, organizers suggested taking the train to Gloucester Station and riding the free Stage Fort Park shuttle two stops to the Good Harbor Beach footbridge, since parking was limited and had to be reserved 10 days ahead. Restrooms, showers, beach mobility devices and accessible parking were available. The healing day took place at Warehouse IX on Sanborn Court in Somerville.

The organization is fully grassroots funded. Its Trans Joy Fund pays for permits, artists and a mobile stage for its annual events, a Trans Community Fund sponsors other local groups, and a Trans Leadership Fund is being saved to one day pay a trans president of color. In 2021 it received The Network/La Red's Visionary Award and a grant from Stonewall Sports.

A Trans Pride centers transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse people, often with a march or rally alongside community resources and performances.

Trans and NB Resistance Pride has included career fair, beach day and day of healing.

Trans and NB Resistance Pride was first held in 2020.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held July 11-19, 2026. It usually falls usually a march and festival in June or July; 2026 was a series of events in July.
