Brooklyn Pride

Brooklyn Pride holds a multicultural street festival on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope followed by the Twilight Parade, an evening parade along the same avenue. The day also includes an LGBTQIA+ 5K in Prospect Park. 2026 was the 30th annual festival.

Brooklyn Pride, Inc. was founded in 1996 by a group of Brooklynites who wanted an alternative to crossing the bridge into Manhattan to find LGBTQ+ community. Their idea was to bring local organizations, businesses, friends and supporters together in the borough itself and make its multicultural queer community more visible.

The organization is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit and describes itself as the largest group serving LGBTQIA+ people in Brooklyn. Producing the borough's annual Pride events is its main job, but it also works to bring Pride programming to Brooklyn neighborhoods throughout the year. Its stated mission is to increase visibility, acceptance and inclusion in the spirit of the Stonewall uprising.

Participation is open to residents of Brooklyn and the other outer boroughs regardless of age, gender identity, HIV status, national origin, disability, race, religion or sexual orientation. Brooklyn Pride is a member of InterPride, the international association of Pride organizers, and of the United States Association of Prides.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Brooklyn Pride has included festival, parade and 5k.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 13, 2026. It usually falls second Saturday in June.
