About Buffalo Grove Pride Parade and Picnic
Buffalo Grove Pride is a family-friendly parade in the northwest suburbs organized by the Pinta Pride Project with the Buffalo Grove Park District. The parade runs along Buffalo Grove Road and Deerfield Parkway and is followed by a picnic at Mike Rylko Community Park.
The Pinta Pride Project organizes Buffalo Grove Pride with money raised entirely from community donations and sponsors. Its stated aim is to highlight, celebrate and normalize the LGBTQIA+ community in a family-friendly way, and the 2026 parade was its eighth annual. The 2025 parade had 100 entries and 2,000 participants, with thousands more watching along the route.
Groups that want to march must request an invitation to enter the parade, and local businesses and congregations can sign on as sponsors. Past supporters have included several churches and a synagogue in Arlington Heights and nearby towns, the local League of Women Voters, veterinary practices and area elected officials. The parade has been covered by the Chicago Tribune and FOX 32 Chicago.
The project also runs Cards for Allies, a year-long letter-writing program that restarts each January, in which volunteer writers send cards to LGBTQ+ recipients, along with a holiday card campaign. Buffalo Grove Pride shirts are sold in adult and youth sizes.
