Catawba Valley Pride Festival

Catawba Valley Pride serves the Hickory and Catawba County area and holds an annual Pride festival. The 2026 festival was on September 19 at Catawba Farms. The group also lists a Catawba Valley Trans Pride event.

Catawba Valley Pride, Inc. was formed in the summer of 2010 by a large group of volunteers and is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in North Carolina. Its purpose is to produce and promote Pride events for the Catawba Valley and Unifour region, and its board is made up of LGBTQ members and straight allies.

The group's stated goals go beyond a single festival day. It aims to create forums where LGBTQ people and their straight neighbors can express creativity and visibility, to nurture arts and culture in the region, and to educate the public about LGBTQ history. Its mission calls for cultural, artistic and educational events that raise awareness of sexual and gender diversity and work against homophobia, transphobia and discrimination. People who want to volunteer, donate or sponsor can reach a board member by phone, text or email.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
