Charlotte Black Pride

Charlotte Black Pride is a nonprofit that celebrates Black LGBTQIA+ people in Charlotte with an annual Black Pride Week, pageants and year-round programs. The 2026 week, marking 21 years, was held July 12 to 18.

Charlotte Black Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by volunteers. Its mission is to promote LGBTQIA pride mainly, though not only, among members of the Black community, while building social awareness, embracing spirituality and celebrating the diversity within the community.

The organization describes itself as independent and non-partisan and says it is not controlled or significantly influenced by any commercial business or organization. Its stated vision is to empower LGBTQIA people in heart, mind and spirit, uplift the community and work toward social change. The group frames being both African American and LGBTQIA+ as an honor that carries a responsibility to advocate for justice, equality and the freedom to love openly.

A board of directors governs the organization, and ambassadors and giving circle members help fund its work in the community.

Black Pride events center Black LGBTQ+ people. Many run over a long weekend, with parties, panels, health and wellness programs and community gatherings.

Charlotte Black Pride has included pride week, pageants and community events.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held July 12-19, 2026. It usually falls mid-July.
