Hudsonville Area Pride

Hudsonville Area Pride is a community-led Pride festival in Hudsonville with vendors, artists, and performers. The first event in 2025 drew close to 1,500 people, and 2026 was its second year.

Hudsonville Area Pride describes its purpose as creating a safe space where the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies can gather, connect and be themselves. Organizers say they took a leap with the first event in 2025, hoping a few hundred people would come, and took the turnout as a sign that the area wanted a space like this.

The festival is run by volunteers. The 2026 leadership team included Salem Sousely, Shelby Pedersen, Christina Warholic and Megan Shriver. On the day, volunteers help with setup, greet guests and run activities, and the group plans other events during the year.

Organizers recruit vendors and artists to sell products, crafts and art, and they look for performers including musicians, DJs and drag artists. Local businesses can sponsor the festival and the group's other events to help cover costs.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
