Pride Royal Oak

Pride Royal Oak is a ticketed Pride festival in downtown Royal Oak, held on a Saturday in late July. VIP tickets include entry to an official Sunday tea dance, and the organizer publishes an annual Pride guide.

Since 2024, Pride Royal Oak has been presented as a nonprofit event in partnership with Shakespeare Royal Oak, a professional outdoor theater festival now in its 26th season. The festival's stated aim is a supportive space where LGBTQIA+ people and everyone else are celebrated and accepted.

Security checks bags and wands everyone entering, including on re-entry, so organizers suggest leaving backpacks at home or bringing a small or clear bag. Weapons, drones and unapproved flyers or giveaways are not allowed. Bottled water is sold on site, and smoking is prohibited near vendor tents, the Kid Zone, indoor areas and within 20 feet of stages.

Children under 12 get in free with a paying adult, anyone 15 and under must be supervised at all times, and 16- and 17-year-olds need an adult after 7 p.m. Vendors range from spiritual and community groups to dispensaries and nightclubs. The Sunday tea dance with the Kiss Boys at Hotel Royal Oak has run from late morning into the afternoon with cocktails, dancing and food trucks.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Pride Royal Oak has included festival and tea dance.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held July 25, 2026. It usually falls last Saturday of July.
