Transgender Pride in the Park

Transgender Pride in the Park is an annual picnic-style gathering for trans people and allies at Martin Road Park in Ferndale, hosted by Transgender Michigan. It includes on-site vendor and organization booths, food, and an online vendor mall. The 2026 edition marked the event's 26th anniversary.

Transgender Michigan was co-founded by Rachel Crandall Crocker and Susan Crocker. Crandall Crocker, the executive director, is a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in transgender issues and is the founder of the International Transgender Day of Visibility. She runs the Transgender Michigan help line, which the group describes as the first transgender help line in the country.

Susan Crocker, the operations director, handles the organization's daily work and created its first program, the Transgender Michigan Calendar. At the picnic, guests can buy from a food vendor or bring their own food and drinks, meet organizations and vendors at on-site booths, and connect with groups serving transgender communities through the online vendor mall. The day keeps a simple picnic format built around food, free activities and time with friends.

A Trans Pride centers transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse people, often with a march or rally alongside community resources and performances.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held August 22, 2026. It usually falls a Saturday in late August, near the anniversary of the 1966 Compton's Cafeteria Riot.
