Heartland Pride

Heartland Pride is Omaha's Pride celebration. The 2026 weekend opened with Youth Pride and Family Night, followed on Saturday by a morning parade through downtown, a daytime festival and vendor show at the Holland and Tenaska centers, and an evening headline show at Steelhouse Omaha.

Heartland Pride is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that has served LGBTQ+ people in Omaha, Council Bluffs and the surrounding region since 1985. Its mission is to celebrate and promote the history, diversity and future of the Heartland's LGBTQ+ community. Beyond the June weekend, it keeps a shared calendar of inclusive events across the metro and a directory of local businesses and organizations that have said they support the LGBTQ+ community.

The parade is free to watch and open to families. It lines up at 9:15 a.m. and steps off at 9:30 from 16th Street, heading east on Capitol Avenue, turning left at 12th Street and continuing north before dispersing near Mike Fahey Street, with public parking toward 10th Street. The published route map marks restrooms, accessible facilities, water stations and the judges' stand, and a written version is available for screen readers.

In 2026 the festival moved to a new downtown location. From noon to 4 p.m., the Holland and Tenaska centers hosted more than 200 exhibitors, local makers, resource tables, food, karaoke and live local performers, and a day-of app listed set times and let people tip performers directly. Entry was by pass, with options covering the daytime festival, the evening show at Steelhouse Omaha or both. The 2026 show featured Margaret Cho, Sasha Colby, Nina West and RealXman, and VIP passes added a patio party with DJ Riz and a meet and greet with headliners.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Heartland Pride was first held in 1985.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held July 17-18, 2026. It usually falls third weekend of July.
