Jersey City Pride Festival

Jersey City Pride is a nonprofit that produces the Jersey City Pride Festival along with year-round programs celebrating LGBTQ+ visibility and culture. The festival, held on the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza, was in its 26th year in 2026.

Pride events in Jersey City began in 2001 as a grassroots effort and grew into one of New Jersey's longest-running Pride programs, drawing tens of thousands of residents, visitors, artists and partners each summer. As the work grew and stretched across the year, organizers set up a new nonprofit to give it long-term structure, transparent governance and room for new programs.

The organization lists five guiding values: visibility, inclusion, community, equity and pride. In practice that means honoring LGBTQ+ identities and history in public, making spaces accessible across generations and lived experiences, and advancing fairness and representation. Its site counts more than 40 events over its history.

The festival remains the flagship program and one of the city's signature cultural events, produced alongside a range of supporting events and programs. Jersey City Pride operates as a public charity for charitable, educational and cultural purposes.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
