PineyWoods Pride Festival

PineyWoods Pride is the flagship annual festival of the Pride Alliance of Lufkin, a Deep East Texas nonprofit founded in 2024. The festival features live entertainment, local vendors and food. The 2025 festival was planned for Millard's Crossing in Nacogdoches and was moved to Lufkin after the venue canceled.

The Pride Alliance of Lufkin, known as PAL, is a 501(c)(3) whose main purpose is to bring together the LGBTQIA2S+ community in Lufkin and nearby towns. It organizes events, shares resources and acts as a bridge to the wider community by taking part in community service projects, attending local meetings and offering supportive services.

PineyWoods Pride is the group's flagship event, and organizers describe it as open and welcoming to everyone. Between festivals, PAL hosts monthly gatherings such as social nights, game nights and supply drives, and it organizes volunteer work in the community. Notes from its all-members meetings are shared publicly, and people can get involved by joining committees or volunteering at events. The group describes its reach as the whole Piney Woods region of Deep East Texas, and new members can contact its member coordinator by email.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. It usually falls october, around National Coming Out Day.
