About Pride Galveston

Pride Galveston is a three-day island celebration held over Labor Day weekend. It began in 2017 as the Pride Galveston Beach Bash and Block Party and the nonprofit was incorporated in 2018. The weekend includes a meet and greet at Pride Center Galveston, a drag show, a beach bash, a neon party and a pool party.

Pride Galveston was started by Jamie Fuller-Waymire and Terry Fuller-Waymire, who felt the island lacked an event designed for the community. It is run by a board of directors, and its stated purpose is to embrace diversity, instill pride, celebrate unity and recognize the contributions of the LGBT community in the Galveston area through education, celebration and networking.

The main weekend is scheduled around the first Saturday of September so it does not clash with other regional Pride events, and the 2026 dates were September 4 through 6. The weekend opens Friday evening with a free meet and greet at The Pride Center, 1502 39th Street, followed by a late-night drag show at Roberts Lafitte. The organization also produces the Mister and Miss Pride Galveston Pageant and two pre-Pride parties during the year.
