Princeton Pride Parade and Festival

Princeton Pride is a parade and festival organized by the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, a nonprofit queer safe space in Princeton. The day includes the parade through town and an after-party.

Princeton Pride is organized by the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, a nonprofit queer safe space and community activist hub in Princeton. The center offers advocacy, education and programs for LGBTQIA+ youth, transgender and immigrant people, and marginalized families of all kinds, and it is dedicated to preserving the life and legacy of Bayard Rustin, the Black gay civil rights leader. Its founder and Chief Activist is Robt Martin Seda-Schreiber.

The center's board has included Walter Naegle, Rustin's partner from 1977 until Rustin's death, who accepted Rustin's posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2013 and co-wrote a book about Rustin's life. Alan Muraoka, known for playing Alan on Sesame Street and an advocate for Asian American and LGBTQIA representation, has also served on the board.

The center describes Pride as especially urgent at a time when the queer community feels under attack and LGBTQIA+ youth face heightened risk. The day pairs a parade through town with an after-party, reflecting the center's view that Pride should be both meaningful and joyful. The center also maintains the Bayard Rustin Queer History Archive, a digital collection, paired with physical materials at its headquarters, that preserves the stories of Rustin and other LGBTQIA+ people whose histories were long overlooked.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 13, 2026. It usually falls mid-June.
