Seekonk Pride (Love Lives in Seekonk)

Seekonk Pride is a family-friendly Pride celebration organized by Love Lives in Seekonk, focused on the town's LGBTQIA+ youth and families. It includes entertainment, food trucks, crafts, and vendors.

Seekonk Pride is organized by Love Lives in Seekonk, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2023 by community members who saw a need for advocacy on behalf of LGBTQ youth and families in town. Its board is made up of professionals committed to LGBTQ advocacy, and it deliberately keeps a queer majority because it believes queer voices are essential to the work.

The group's beliefs center on children and families. It holds that children should see themselves reflected throughout society, that every family deserves equal support and representation, including in town processes, and that teaching young people about diversity builds resilience and helps prevent bullying, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. It also stresses the value of responsible role models who share similar experiences.

The Pride celebration is meant to build a strong community across Seekonk. Performers and vendors can get in touch through the group's social media pages, and businesses, individuals and families can help cover the cost of the event through sponsorships or donations.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
