Southern Oregon Pride (SOPride)

Southern Oregon Pride is a Pride weekend in downtown Ashland. The parade runs down Main Street to Lithia Park, where the Butler Bandshell hosts a festival with vendors, food trucks, drag, and DJs. The weekend also includes a Friday dance party and a Sunday drag brunch, with Pride week activities around town beforehand.

Southern Oregon Pride was founded in Ashland in 2010 and has been running for about 15 years. It describes itself as a diverse, all-inclusive group standing together to support LGBTQ+ people across the Rogue Valley, with a focus on equality, peace and acceptance. Donations and volunteer hours keep Pride weekend free and accessible.

The parade runs down Main Street from Union Street to Lithia Park, and people can either march or cheer from the route. Groups apply in advance to march, and volunteers sign up separately. The festival at the Butler Bandshell offers free activities for all ages, and the weekend has closed with a drag brunch at Paschal Winery.

Pride week in Ashland adds more to do. Local businesses create Pride-themed window displays that visitors can vote on, and a Passport to SOPRIDE rewards people who collect stamps at participating shops with a chance at prizes and a raffle entry at the festival. Recent weeks have also included a NOH8 Campaign photo session at the Columbia Hotel and queer film programming with the Ashland Independent Film Festival.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
