Takoma Pride

Takoma Pride is a family-friendly parade and street fair in Takoma Park. The half-mile parade starts at the TPSS Co-op on Ethan Allen Avenue and ends on Laurel Avenue, where a street fair offers advocacy and support groups, crafts, food and face painting. The 2026 edition was on Sunday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Takoma Pride is hosted by Main Street Takoma, the Old Takoma Business Association, a 501(c)(3) that brings together businesses, residents and community groups across the Takoma business district, which stretches from Takoma Park, Maryland, into Washington, D.C. The parade itself is organized by the TKPK Pride group with support from the TPSS Co-op and the City of Takoma Park.

The day begins with free poster making at the TPSS Co-op at 201 Ethan Allen Avenue, where flags and supplies are provided so marchers can create their own Pride messages. The parade covers about half a mile along Carroll Avenue to Laurel Avenue, and anyone can join by simply showing up. Spectators can line Carroll Avenue between Philadelphia and Laurel avenues. Past marchers have included local officials, community groups and nonprofits.

The street fair fills Laurel Avenue between Carroll and Eastern avenues with advocacy, education and support organizations, crafts, food, free face painting and a selfie station. Booths are free for nonprofits and community groups, with a small number of dessert vendors and LGBTQ-owned retailers also considered, and space fills up quickly. The fair is three blocks from the Takoma Metro station on the Red Line. Street parking is free, and a lot at Carroll and Willow avenues charges a small fee.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Takoma Pride has included parade, street fair and kids activities.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 7, 2026. It usually falls early June.
