TIGLFF's Trans Pride

TIGLFF's Trans Pride is a weekend of transgender films and community events in the Tampa Bay area, run by the organizers of the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. It grew out of the Tampa Bay Transgender Film Festival, which reached its sixth year in 2026, the first year under the Trans Pride name.

The Tampa Bay Transgender Film Festival began in 2020 as a fully virtual event hosted by TIGLFF in partnership with St Pete Pride around Transgender Day of Remembrance. It was driven by local trans advocates and inspired by the Netflix documentary Disclosure, and its early years featured national film screenings, online social and support events and a digital hub of local resources.

After a pause in 2022, the festival moved to Transgender Day of Visibility in March 2023 and added in-person gatherings, including an opening reception and a community picnic with a clothing and art swap. That year it also partnered with Humanity Rising to premiere You're Loved, a documentary by Carys Mullins about three young transgender and nonbinary people in Florida and Texas.

Films and events are chosen by a rotating committee made up entirely of transgender, nonbinary and gender nonconforming community members, and the event is run by trans and gender nonconforming people. The 2026 edition ran March 26 to 29 with programming in both St. Pete and Tampa for the first time, and it included a Night of 1000 Oscars dance party and ball.

A Trans Pride centers transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse people, often with a march or rally alongside community resources and performances.

TIGLFF's Trans Pride has included film festival, receptions and community events.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held March 26-29, 2026. It usually falls late March.
