Fernandina Beach Pride Parade and Festival

Fernandina Beach Pride holds a morning parade through the historic downtown on Center Street, followed by a festival in Central Park. The 2026 event was the organization's sixth annual parade and festival on Amelia Island.

Fernandina Beach Pride traces its start to June 2018, when the mayor arranged for a Pride flag to fly over city hall for a week. That September, the city commission passed a resolution limiting city hall flags to the federal, state and city flags, and during that discussion the commissioners suggested holding a Pride parade instead. The organizers still keep the original flag, signed by those who attended its lowering.

Fernandina Beach Pride, Inc. was formed in January 2019, and the first Pride weekend that June included a Saturday parade, a daylong festival and Sunday faith services around the community. The group is run entirely by volunteers and aims to foster communication, education and mutual support among LGBTQ+ people and allies across Nassau County.

Its work extends past Pride weekend. As members of the Nassau Chamber of Commerce, the group helped create a volunteer fair where more than 40 local nonprofits shared information. It awarded $5,000 in scholarship funds to LGBTQ+ graduating seniors in Nassau County in 2021 and 2022, and it has started an LGBTQ+ youth program where local teens can meet in a safe space.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls first Saturday of June.
