Washington County Pride Celebration

The Washington County Pride Celebration is a family-friendly event organized by The Youth and Family Project, a West Bend nonprofit. The 2026 edition, themed 'Locally Rooted', was held at Riveredge Nature Center in Saukville.

The Youth and Family Project, a counseling and support agency, began building resources for LGBTQ+ youth and families after its staff saw more young people feeling safe enough to share their identities. Finding the need large and local resources scarce, it has kept adding programs for LGBTQ+ youth, families and adults in Washington County. Clients asked for years for a local, family-friendly Pride event before the celebration began.

The celebration is a sober event with food, information and resource booths, vendors, games and live music, and the 2026 edition, the fifth, added more activities and entertainment for children and families. Volunteers direct parking, greet guests, run activities and help set up and clean up.

Sponsorship tiers are named for the stripes of Gilbert Baker's six-stripe Pride flag, from red at $50 to a rainbow level at $1,000 and up. Any money raised beyond event costs goes to the agency's LGBTQ+ programming.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Washington County Pride Celebration has included family celebration.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held August 9, 2026. It usually falls august (Sunday).
