Pride Marfa

Pride Marfa is a three-day LGBTQ+ celebration in the Big Bend town of Marfa, organized by local volunteers. The weekend combines a community art walk through local galleries, a screen-printing workshop, film screenings, live performances and nightlife across venues in town. 2026 was its fifth annual edition.

Pride Marfa is organized by a grassroots collective of friends and neighbors, and it is set against the Chihuahuan Desert landscape of far West Texas. Over its first several years it has grown into a weekend where queer culture drives the programming, with contemporary art, music, performance and nightlife spread across venues in town. Sponsorships help pay for the artists and events.

Every Pride Marfa event is free and open to the public, though some venues have limited capacity. Most events are 21 and over, so a government-issued photo ID is a good idea. The events center queer people, and respectful allies are welcome. Outside food and drinks, including alcohol, are not allowed at participating venues, and alcohol service follows each venue's license and Texas rules.

Marfa is a small rural town with no rideshare service. Street parking is generally available, the town is walkable, and organizers suggest planning for a sober driver or a place to stay nearby. Accessibility differs by venue, and anyone who needs accommodations can reach out to the team ahead of time or flag down an organizer or volunteer. Dress is open, from drag and gear to cowboy attire and everyday clothes.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held September 11-13, 2026. It usually falls mid September weekend.
