Northfield Pride in the Park

Northfield Pride hosts Pride in the Park each June at Central Park in Northfield. The afternoon event features live music, food trucks and booths from local organizations, affirming churches and businesses, with activities for all ages.

Northfield Pride began with the first Pride in the Park, organized by the Northfield Public Library in 2020. The celebration grew in size and popularity each year, and the library eventually handed the planning to a community committee. That committee became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a board of directors, dedicated to enriching, strengthening and making visible the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Northfield and the surrounding area.

The organization's goals include promoting a safer environment for LGBTQ+ people, building community, and offering safe events that celebrate diversity. It raises money to increase awareness of LGBTQ+ people and their achievements, encourages communication and mutual support between LGBTQ+ people and allied communities, and gives back through scholarships, sponsorships and support for other nonprofits.

Northfield Pride relies on local organizations and individuals for donations, sponsorships, partnerships and volunteer time. Its fundraising includes a Raise a Glass silent auction, and people can contribute auction items through a form on the group's website.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls first Saturday in June.
