NYC Pride March and PrideFest

NYC Pride is the annual Pride weekend produced by Heritage of Pride, anchored by the March that began as a demonstration honoring the 1969 Stonewall uprising. The March steps off on Fifth Avenue and passes the Stonewall National Monument, and PrideFest is a free street fair along Fourth Avenue in Manhattan the same day. Youth Pride, a free outdoor event with a rally for trans and queer youth, is held the day before.

Heritage of Pride, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit behind NYC Pride, is funded entirely by community contributions and aims to produce events that inspire, educate, commemorate and celebrate. The tradition traces back to 1970, when the Christopher Street Liberation Day Committee organized the first march one year after the Stonewall uprising, and marches have been held every year since.

The organization is led by a volunteer executive board together with full-time and part-time paid staff, and thousands of volunteers handle talent, marketing and operations. Volunteers must be 18 or older, or 21 for events such as Pride Island. The 2026 theme was For All of Us, and the March draws millions of marchers and spectators.

PrideFest offers local craft vendors, food, music and sponsor activations, and Youth Pride offers live performances, community activities and wellness resources for LGBTQIA+ teens and allies. Beyond June, NYC Pride awards grants to local LGBTQIA+ nonprofits, including $75,000 split among 11 groups, and holds a fall corporate summit on workplace inclusion.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 27-28, 2026. It usually falls last weekend of June, with the March on the last Sunday.
