Poughkeepsie Pride (Dutchess County Pride)

Poughkeepsie Pride is organized by the Dutchess County Pride Center and is billed as the largest Pride march in the Mid-Hudson Valley, followed by a festival. 2026 was its eighth year.

Dutchess County Pride Center grew out of a gap parents found in 2016, when a child came out as transgender and the family could find few local therapeutic or social resources. After two more teenagers came out as transgender or gender-nonconforming and their parents met the same gap, the families founded the center in January 2018 and started the first social and support groups for LGBTQ+ teens and TGNC youth. Its offerings more than doubled within the first year.

The center's goals are to support, educate and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, with a focus on youth, and to improve the health, safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ people across Dutchess County. It aims to be a full community center where everyone feels free to be themselves.

At the festival in Waryas Park, the center's large tent sits just to the right of the Flowers Circle entrance. Staff in pink and lavender Dutchess Pride shirts and volunteers with bright pink lanyards are stationed there throughout the day to answer questions, help with lost items and directions, and take safety reports, and visitors can donate or buy merchandise there.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 13, 2026. It usually falls second Saturday in June.
