About Trinity County Pride
Trinity County Pride is a community Pride celebration in Weaverville, associated with the Trinity Pride Coalition.
The Trinity Pride Coalition formed in 2022 after several teen suicides in the county, when advocates and allies decided the climate for LGBTQIA+ residents, especially young people, had to change. The group points to a rural setting where misinformation and a few loud voices have shaped the conversation, while ministers at Trinity Congregational Church and many local businesses have offered support.
The coalition works mainly as a social network for LGBTQA+ people and allies, and it also advocates for its community and other marginalized groups and connects people with resources. Its goal is a safe, educated and supportive Trinity County where people of every orientation and identity can thrive.
Pride in the county started as a small picnic in 2021 and has since grown into a large, county-wide celebration of diversity. The coalition hopes to add more educational events and resources, and its website includes an LGBTQIA+ history section.
