Twin Cities Black Pride (MNPOC Pride Festival)

Twin Cities Black Pride is a five-day festival hosted by Minnesota People of Color Pride for LGBTQ+ people of color, families and allies from across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. Programming includes community gatherings, nightlife, ballroom culture, wellness programming and a Family Day Festival at Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis. The organization also connects attendees with health, housing and workforce resources.

Minnesota People of Color Pride, known as MNPOC Pride, is a 501(c)(3) that has served LGBTQ+ people of color across Minnesota since 1999. Its community hub is at the Sabathani Community Center in Minneapolis. Guided by the motto Always Better Together, it creates culturally affirming spaces through community events, youth leadership, public health work, advocacy and year-round programming.

The organization's work includes direct person-to-person advocacy focused on civic engagement and HIV health, education on race, culture, class, politics and sexual health, and an Early Intervention Services outreach program that works to close health gaps for people of color. Its philosophy is summed up in the acronym S.L.I.C.E., which stands for socialization, literature, inclusion, charity and education.

Along with Twin Cities Black Pride, MNPOC Pride runs Roots: Growing in Pride, a program focused on building skills and creating opportunities, and it hosts community events such as fundraising bingo at Roxy's Cabaret and a free Halloween trunk-or-treat at Sabathani with DJs, food trucks, games, a costume contest and community resources.

Black Pride events center Black LGBTQ+ people. Many run over a long weekend, with parties, panels, health and wellness programs and community gatherings.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held August 12-16, 2026. It usually falls mid-August, five days.
