Yachats Pride

Yachats Pride is a volunteer-run weekend Pride in the small central Oregon Coast town of Yachats, held at the Yachats Commons. The schedule includes drag bingo, a variety show, a trans panel, a dance party, a community market, a picnic, and a puppy parade.

Yachats Pride began in 2017 as a vigil-style gathering in response to the Pulse nightclub shooting, organized by a small group who felt their coastal community deserved to be celebrated. It is now Yachats Pride, Inc., a 501(c)(3) run by volunteers, and it has been recognized by NPR and supported by Travel Oregon. Visitors come from Portland, Seattle, Oakland and beyond.

The three-day festival is free, accessible and built by the community. Organizers pay every performer in full, feed everyone who comes and turn no one away for lack of money. Daytime events such as the community market, puppy parade, petting zoo, resource fair and picnic are open to all ages, while evening drag and adult humor shows are recommended for guests 18 and over.

Everything happens at the Community Commons on Highway 101. Beer and wine are sold during evening events, and drinks cannot be carried in or out of the gates. The Trans Tea Party is created and moderated by board member Emily Crabtree. Volunteers help with setup, food and the door, and local performers and Sunday market vendors can apply by email.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

Yachats Pride was first held in 2017.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 5-7, 2026. It usually falls first weekend of June.
