PRIDE Through the Decades (Danville Pride)

Collidescope VA is a Dan River Region group that works for LGBTQ+ acceptance in Southern Virginia and hosts Danville's Pride. Its 2026 Pride, themed Pride Through the Decades, was held on June 20 at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, alongside a morning Pride walk downtown.

Collidescope VA describes itself as a social movement based in Danville that began as an idea for a single Pride celebration. Its founding members started by asking local businesses, organizations and faith groups to stand publicly as allies, and that list keeps growing as a resource LGBTQ+ residents can use to find places where they will be accepted.

From that first Pride party, the group has expanded into regular programming at local businesses and event spaces, including drag shows, book talks, movie nights, bowling socials, bingo nights and queer cafes. Ballad Brewing was the first venue to host the Pride party and releases a Love Wins Wheat IPA every June.

Its broader aim is to connect LGBTQ+ people in Southern Virginia with inclusive social events, business resources and health opportunities by keeping a visible presence and working with ally businesses, nonprofits and faith-based groups. Collidescope also runs educational activities, shares information with decision makers and works to get LGBTQ residents and allies out to vote.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 20, 2026. It usually falls june.
