About Kinderhook Pride
Kinderhook Pride is a community celebration on the Village Square in Kinderhook, Columbia County. 2026 was the fifth annual event.
Kinderhook Pride was created to celebrate the town's large LGBTQ+ community and now draws people from across Columbia County and the Hudson Valley. It is organized by Friends of Kinderhook Pride, a 501(c)(3) committee of local business owners, residents and activists who handle fundraising and community coordination. Cochair Amber van Moessner is credited as the founder.
The day begins with a short march from the Kinderhook Library to Broad Street, followed by a gathering on the village green where the grand marshal speaks and local drag performers take the stage. Related events take place at the Aviary and the library.
Each year the event honors a grand marshal from the local LGBTQIA+ community. Past honorees include Amy Ziff of BETTY, Hannah Wong of HAEMA Hospitality, Charlie Ferrusi and Linda Mussman, co-founder of TSL. Since 2023 a Junior Grand Marshal scholarship has served as a mutual aid fund for young LGBTQIA+ people, with recent honorees drawn from Ichabod Crane schools.
