About Pride on the Bay
Pride on the Bay is NWPA Pride Alliance's bayfront Pride festival at Liberty Park in Erie, held rain or shine.
NWPA Pride Alliance has worked to unite and celebrate the queer community in Erie and Crawford counties since 1992, and it incorporated in 2012 as a 501(c)(3). The group now produces more than 20 annual events, offered free whenever possible, and it has marked key moments such as a Love Wins celebration on the Erie County Courthouse steps in 2015 and a candlelight vigil after the Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016. Founding members Michael Mahler and Season Crannell are credited with starting the work.
Pride on the Bay was introduced in 2024 as the group's most ambitious Pride Fest yet, though severe weather kept that first edition from fully taking place. The 2026 festival ran from noon to 5 p.m. on June 27 at Liberty Park, 828 West Bayfront Parkway, with free admission, local queer artisans, vendors, community resource tables, food trucks and free activities around the grounds.
The main stage featured live music, a DJ and a drag show. Pets are not allowed in the park during the festival, though service animals are welcome. The alliance also works with the City of Erie, local businesses and area sports teams including the Erie Seawolves and the Erie Otters.
