Delaware County Pride

Delaware County Pride opens with a parade on State Street in Media followed by evening events with downtown businesses. A week later the county's main Pride festival takes place at the Upper Darby Township Municipal Building. 2026 saw the second parade.

Delaware County Pride is produced by U.D.T.J., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that also runs the U.D.T.J. Community Center. The center opened in February 2024 as a year-round hub for BIPOC, LGBTQ and young people in Delaware County and sits near many of the area's suburban transit routes. It connects people with mental health, recovery and housing resources, offers peer support, and hosts events such as Serving Delco Day, when partner groups provide free services.

The parade route in Media is about one mile long, with spots along the way for performances, and moving vehicles are not permitted. Community groups, nonprofits and performers march with banners, costumes, music and dance, and LGBTQQIA+ organizations share information with spectators. After the parade, Pride on State continues into the evening with events hosted with businesses and organizations in downtown Media.

The festival at 100 Garrett Road in Upper Darby runs through the afternoon with no admission charge. It includes kid-friendly activities, vendors, live music, a DJ, dancing, face painting, and drag and ballroom performances, and past festivals have drawn more than 100 vendors. All Delco Pride events are smoke-free and vape-free. Volunteers receive a free T-shirt and lunch, and an event program lists the schedule, sponsors, maps and parking.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6-13, 2026. It usually falls first two Saturdays of June.
