Salisbury Pride Festival

Salisbury Pride is a grassroots group that held the city's first LGBTQ+ Pride celebration in 2011. The 14th annual Salisbury Pride Festival took place on September 12, 2026 at Bell Tower Green with entertainment, vendor booths and sponsor displays.

Salisbury Pride, Inc. works to build safe, inclusive communities in Rowan County and nearby areas that accept and value people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. It does this by creating chances for positive visibility, offering a safe setting for different perspectives and providing education aimed at building harmony in the community. The group holds events and educational programs throughout the year.

The 2026 theme was Exist, Resist, Persist. Organizers explained that with LGBTQ+ rights and identities being challenged across the country, simply living openly can be an act of courage, and that resistance looks different for different people, from organizing and speaking out to getting through each day authentically. They also said the festival was making more room for students, young leaders and new voices to stand with longtime advocates. Earlier themes include Stand Proud, Stand Strong, Stand United in 2017.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
