San Diego Black Pride

San Diego Black Pride is a weekend of events for Black LGBTQ+ San Diegans held in July ahead of San Diego Pride. The 2026 weekend included the Legacy Ball at Liberty Station and a Sunday service celebration.

San Diego Black Pride began in 2015 as the San Diego Black LGBTQ Coalition, a program of San Diego Pride that started as a support group for Black gay men. New bylaws adopted in 2018 created a flexible membership and council structure, and in 2024 the group took the name San Diego Black Pride. Today it is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, led by volunteers, that serves every part of the Black queer community in San Diego County.

The organization describes itself as a hub for Black LGBTQ+ life in the county. Its programs include social events, networking opportunities, financial literacy education, emergency financial support, resource sharing and outreach, all aimed at supporting a Black queer experience that is often overlooked. Its signature event is the annual Black Pride festival.

Its long-term vision is a strong, connected Black LGBTQ+ community working together for social, political and economic advancement. The group relies on donated time, resources and money to sustain its programs and publishes annual reports on its impact.

Black Pride events center Black LGBTQ+ people. Many run over a long weekend, with parties, panels, health and wellness programs and community gatherings.

San Diego Black Pride has included ball, yacht party and sunday service.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held July 10-12, 2026. It usually falls weekend before San Diego Pride in July.
