Southern Fried Queer Pride

Southern Fried Queer Pride is a weeklong arts-centered Pride festival in Atlanta's Little Five Points neighborhood that centers queer communities of color across the South. The program includes an artist market, gallery exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, a variety show, a drag competition and dance parties. The 2026 festival was its 12th annual edition.

Southern Fried Queer Pride grew out of a lack of community space for Black and brown queer people, a shortage of queer art and a rejection of the usual story told about Southern queer life. Organizers note that the South has the country's largest LGBTQ population, yet it is often described only through stigma and struggle, and they set out to tell a fuller story of resilience and history.

The Atlanta-based organization works to empower Black queer and QTPOC communities in the South through the arts. Its values include giving communities direct access to social, human and financial capital, building intentional programming and developing emerging artists and leaders. Its vision is a regional South where Black and QTPOC artists and leaders are employed and own their work.

SFQP is community-led and runs on small grants and community donations, and it does not take money from corporations it sees as diluting the communities it serves. Its programming has included a QTBIPOC urban farm tour and SWEET TEA., a queer variety show presented at Atlanta Pride.

This community event celebrates LGBTQ+ people and is organized by and for its local community.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 22-28, 2026. It usually falls last full week of June.
